Healthly or not

Hey guys.

I did bodyfat testing today and I am 10.5% currently.

I basically eat 3 meals a day of whatever I want.

A typical day may be wendy's,Quiznos,Subway,macdonalds...etc.

Basically a lot of fast food.

Sometimes I eat clean other times I don't...but as you can see I don't have a weight or bodyfat problem.

Here is my question...even though I workout regularly and have low bodyfat is fast food bad for me?

I mean looking at me I look to be the picture of great health...but is this fast food killing me on the inside?

Or is it basically calories in calories out?

Okay, I may get some flack for this, but...

In general, it is overeating that is unhealthy, rather than what you are actually eating that is unhealthy. IN GENERAL, okay? I'm not saying that you can eat whatever the heck you want and you'll be fine as long as you keep calories at maintenance. I'm saying that if you overeat for prolonged periods and things tend to go south health-wise. Undereat and drop some weight and things tend to get better.

Yes, what you eat has an impact, but it seems that overeating has a much larger impact.

Also, being active can help out a lot. Obviously if you are eating 4000 calories consisting of tons of saturated fats each day, your maintenance is only 2000 and you sit on the couch all the time, it's going to be bad. But... if you are eating "unhealthy" foods while exercising regularly, you can often stay quite healthy.

Keep in mind that genetics can play a significant role in this as well. Some people are prone to various problems such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc, regardless of their diet choices.

My experience seems to support this as well. After a very long period of bulking, my cholesterol was starting to get a little high. I had been eating pretty much whatever I could get my hands on. Once I cut down, while still eating "unhealthy" foods quite regularly, my cholesterol quickly became really good.

I would fear eating at the ClownTown. Otherwise, being young will offset a lot of maladies from poor diet...but not forever. You might just want to monitor the saturated fat intake, since problems can occur from that, and also not eat fats around a workout, of course.

Thanks guys.

With a 1 year old at home...Its time to think about others too...working out = healthier lifestyle...so I wanted to make sure I wasn't sabatoging my internal organs!

If the risk factors are fine, weight, bp, cholesterol, inflammation, blah blah blah and nutrient intake is up, its less of a concern. there is 'risk' but no real definative cause-effect relationships

Bingo! It used to be that I could as much as I wanted of whatever I wanted and never gain weight. I weighed 126 lbs, soaking wet, with a bar of G.I. soap in each hand... until I turned 30. Then I gained 5 lbs. When I turned 35, I gained 5 more, and 5 more at 40, and 5 more at 45.

By the time I was 50 years old, I was more than 25 lbs overweight. I weighed 20% more than I did when I was in college. All this from eating whatever I wanted.

It only works until time catches up with you. Better to form good habits now, or Mother Nature will make you pay later (and she's one tough mother!).

Aaron mentioned blood pressure, cholesterol, inflammation, etc... It wouldn't hurt to get some blood work done so you can see where you stand. Some folks can definitely get away with looser diets than others, but being lean and muscular is not a guarantee of good health.

Eat your vegetables!  You don't want colon cancer.

Also...You're a retard, troll.  Oh wait wrong forum.

After the dust settles, I'd think that there are still some healthy choices to be made if possible, such as organic (if you can afford such) vs. regular, nonprocessed vs processed, and general commonsense stuff. I absolutely don't believe for a minute that a guy using pizza, ice cream, and baloney sandwiches is going to be as healthy as a guy on the same macros using broccolli, fruits, pot roast with peas and mashed taters and milk and...
Oh, crap, I gotta go peek at my refrigerator!

That's okay Joe, I have a hard time not trolling forums myself sometimes. There are just too many stupid people out there with idiotic ideas and beliefs. So I understand why you troll.
