If vit C has an anti-hypertrophic effect, why do

If vit C has an anti-hypertrophic effect, why do many people take up to 5g of it?

Does it have some benefit for hypertrophy when taken in small amounts?

If you train twice a day, when do you take it? On your off day?

It's true that increased oxidation triggers increased protein synthesis. However, some anti-oxidants can also act as pro-oxidants. Vitamin C has been shown to do this when taken before training (read study abstract). I'm not sure how he feels about vitamin C in particular, but I know Bryan has previously said that he doesn't take anti-oxidants before training, because he feels they might hamper with hypertrophy. So I guess there's not really any consensus of opinion. I don't see why anyone would want to take 5g per day, though. 1g is plenty.
