Is it ok to drink sedimented water?

Do you mean distilled water, or water with sediment in it? If the former, yes, it's OK, but distilled water tastes horribly flat. If the latter, no, it's not OK without further filtering and purification. HTH!

Assuming that you mean water with sediment in it, you shouldn't drink it without filtering and purification becuase the sediment often contains (harmful) bacteria as well as amebae and other interesting parasitic organisms. In addition, the sediment can contain unhealthy concentrations of noxious goodies such as PCBs, not to mention mud- ugh! Why do you ask? Are you a back country camper/hiker? If so, you should Google the subject to find all sorts of good infor on purifying water in the wild.

Well, some taps around my house give out water that is clear. Others give out water that is a brownish colour. I'm wondering what is in the water that causes the brownish colour and if it is ok to drink the water.

Thats obvious! It must be poo leaking into the fresh water supply from your outlet. In which case I recommend you dont drink it! :D

It could be "poo" but more likely, it's rust, especially given that it's only found in water coming from certain taps. Ruhl, have you tried running the water until it's clear? This usually works if it is rust. However, there is some reason to be concerned that if there's rust, there could also be other contaminants, such as lead (from solder). I'd have a qualified plumber check it out. Also, there are home test kits you can buy to determine if your water is contaminated with lead, iron, e. coli, and a number of other goodies.
