Low carb and mTOR signalling

Hi everyone,

As you know I have been following the anabolic diet for 2 years now and wanted to know if someone here (maybe Dan) knows how the low insulin levels impact the mTOR signalling pathway.

This because I have also been training ala Max-Stim style for one year and experienced Miraculous strength and mass gains...but wondered if this diet low in carbs had an inhibitory effet on mTOR signalling?

Thanks to everyone.

yeech, I have to jump in here and ask for some details! A lot of disparate interest in the lowcarb stuff here lately but not many proponents. Of course the Anabolic's refeeds are another system, but still close.

Insulin is definatley permissive in mTOR signalling especially some of the down stream signalling, p70S6K, EIF and EEF (some cases). But at the same time mechanical signalling in and of itself also regulates many of these same signalling mechanisms irregardless of insulin or insulin growth factors. If one were strictly for optimal signalling then seome insulin response is probably better than none but even in times of complete starvation PS (muscle specific fractions) occurs.

To put simply, carbs and protein around training is probably better but not an absolute necessity.
