I'm taking an omega-3 integrator in pills but for money issues I'm switching to fish oil.
I need to know how much oil I should take to have the same EPA and DHA and also which fish oil is the best and less dangerous for long term use.
I weight 65 kg. so I was taking 2 pills (1g each), is it right?

2 grs of fish oil? How's the EPA/DHA content of those pills? If it's normal then that's very little. 10 pills is more like it.

EPA 120mg DHA180mg
anyway how much oil should I take (and what kind) to get the right amount of EFAs for my weight?

I've never seen any fixed weight/omega 3 intake ratio so I'm not sure. I take up to 6 gr of EPA/DHA which would be 20 caps of yours. I recommend cod liver oil, jsut take one tablespoon per day and you'll get around 2 gr of both, which should be ok.

I reported my weight because Bryan wrote in eating for size that fish oil intake is based upon bodyweight but maybe I misunderstood.
Anyway I will try with 1 tbs cod liver oil, there are particular problems that could arise?I remember someone suggesting to get some kind of purified cod liver oil to avoid vitamin overdosage or something similar.

Depends on what you are taking it for

in terms of reduced risk of heart disease etc, 1gm is enough to have an effect.
in terms of nutrient partitioning, 6gm is the typical doseage that is used in research (and the amount htat Lyle McDonald usually recommends)
and if you look at the work of Stephen Clarke, he bandies around figures of ~5% energy as long chain polyunsaturates, or 5% energy as fish oils, or about 12g/day on a 2000kcal diet.

So to have the most benefits also for nutrient partitioning how much cod liver oil I should take daily?
(u mean 6g fish oil or 6g EPA+DHA?)
Is 1 tbs enough as restless said?

I take the members mark version they sell at Sam's club. I have been experimenting with dosages for a while now. I have found taking 12 fish oil pills per day is the optimal dosage for me. Each pill contains 180mg epa/ 120mg of dha. So 12 times 300mg of epa/dha per pill gives me 3.6 grams per day. When I get up around 5 or more grams a day I start getting facial acne. This is probably because my body is producing to much eicosapentaenoic acid to aracnic acid (aa). Everyone is differnent. People who eat a lot of grain fed beef are getting around a 20/1 ratio of omega 6's to 3's. Ideally you want a ratio of 1:1. This is hard to to in todays world. But if you eat lean meats or buy grass fed beef and supplement with fish oil, you will slowly change the ratio of omegas in your body. Also, try using olive oil, macadamia nuts and Oil to get the rest of you daily fat requirements. They are high in omega 9's which are monounsaturated and have no impact on your ratio of 3's to 6's.
