Our Diets/Their Diets

We have our diet technique mostly as caloric reduction while keeping to certain guidelines of protein. Lyle McDonald said there were basically 3 types of diet.

Look at how many ways the REST of the world is trying to lose weight!

Utterly a mind blower.

Well, I guess there's not much money to be made in telling people to eat less and move more

isn't that what it REALLY comes down to in the end?

Burn more calories than you take in?

Some how, some way

But thanks for the link QUAD

even diets that say cals doesnt matter really do result in caloric intake lower than TEE

its funny when someone says they are following atkins diet they eat whatever they want dont count cals

funny they have eliminated a comple macro (almost) which almost always results in significant cal reduction

thanks

Not to mention the filling effect of fats!

Estimating about 20 products per 'pagedown', I counted around 1200 items/diets on that site...to our what, 2-3?

Yeah, I think its sad that most people try to eat a cetain "diet" rather than eat less processed foods and exercise.
The past year most of my co-workers (mostly women and i'm not knockin women) have tried a certain "diet" and they still have not reached a healthy weight level.

I tried to explain to them that they need to eat whole wheat/whole grain foods, veggies, fruits and limit junk food. But to no avail.... they still eat junk foods, soda pop, etc. and they don't exercise, even after I basically preached to them how to get healthy "correctly".

If they had followed a good dietary intake and some exercise they would have already reached a healthy weight level.

and the coupled protein sparing that comes with the no carb effect...

Firstly, hoodia gordia probably *is* an effective appetite suppresant. However, it's a rare, expensive plant, and to be effective you need to eat a lot of it at once (iirc, the South African bushmen ate a chunk about the size of a small cucumber, and this is about the dose you'd need). A little capsule, which won't contain nearly enough hoodia gordia (and might not have any) won't lighten anything except your wallet.

Ephedrine can be useful for weight loss, though make sure you're aware of the health risks. I'd be reluctant to buy off the web, from a company that's daft enough to try and flog hoodia caps as an appetite suppressant - you never know what you're getting (though I don't know if others have used this company successfully?). Can't you buy ephedrine at chemists in one form or another, or has that been banned in the US?

I would suggest a safe thermo. Yohimbe is still legal and you can eat on it if you want to. Guarana is a second best IMO. If hunger is the problem, we've talked at length about stuffing with drugs like popcorn, jello, and stuff like that.
