overeating (for size) + exercise

ok quick recap that overeating for size requires that you eat 400-500cal surplus per day.

traditionally while bulking people just overeat 400cal/day and pretty much avoid cardio during this phase.

now is there any benefit to massively overeating (ex: 800 cal surplus) but doing some kind of intense cardio exercise (sprinting is what i have in mind) that you effectively burn off 400 of the surplus calories.

so basically 800 - 400 = you end up with 400 calorie surplus anyway.

obviously you probably get the benefit of improving your cardiovascular system with the second option, but in terms of nutrient partitioning, improving lean mass to fat mass ratio, and other bodybuilding aspects, is there any benefit of performing such methods?

The only benefit that I know of is that exercise (even cardio) is anabolic, providing calorie intake is sufficient. I think that this is the reason for combining overeating with some cardio to limit fat accumulation.
