pre-w/o carb source

I got the book The Sneaky Chef for Christmas this year to pick up some tips on how to get my 4 year old son to eat more fruits & vegetables. Its basic technique is hiding healthy stuff they won't see or taste in their food. One of the recipes is a sweet potato/carrot puree. That got me thinking- sweet potatoes are supposed to be one of the best slow-burning carbs, the taste is neutral to very slightly sweet, why not give it a try in my pre-w/o shake?

This morning I tried 1/2 cup of this orange puree w/ vanilla whey & water instead of my usual ground oats. I ended up having a nice workout w/ good energy (of course many factors could come into play here), the flavor wasn't bad, I got a nice dose of antioxidants, & it was less gritty than a shake made w/ oats.

I'll be giving this combination a try again

Sounds like baby food that comes in those little jars...

I don't notice any difference in the type of carbs I use preworkout; as long as I have carbs. There may be some advantage to super simple carbs like sugars, but longer burning complexes, from honey to cereal seem to last through the workout better.
As I understand it, dextrose and maltodextrin are processed differently from sugar and have certain advantages, but when I want a super workout, I add thermos, like yohimbe.
