How do you time u're preworkout drink?

Whey takes about 15-20 to get in the system right?

Do you gulp it all or do you sip it say 20 mins before workout and throughout the workout?
 
My gym opens at 5am. I get out of bed at 4:30, make shake, drink shake, get dressed, drive to gym. Start working out around 5 after 5am. So eh, I guess I have the pre-shake\meal roughly 30 minutes before my workout. :)
Post workout, I generally slam it down as soon as I'm back in the locker room, before hitting the shower. :)
 
I like to have the shake atleast an hour before so I'm not nauseous during my workout. Deadlifitng is no fun when you feel like your shake is comin up on you!

I've done it both ways- drink 20-30 grams 30 mins before workout & also sip on 10-15 grams during workout- doesn't bother me (bloat or nausea) either way. There are a lot of people like Joe G who can't train with anything in their stomach, especially protein.
 
Anything from 10-40mins prior, big 60gms or so.....only time I get nauseous in the gym is if I don't take enough time to breathe between sets, that's regardless of food prior.

I generally add 50 grams of dex to my post shake, and follow that up with a banana. My post shake is usually 50g of whey, 50g of dex, and 5g creatine. If I don't have a real food handy at the time, such as my favorite banana :) , I'll add another 20g of dex. I like to keep the carbs slightly higher than the protein. I'm sure it's not the same for everyone, but it's been working for me for quite a while now.
 
wow that's alot of sugar. Don't u get a sugar rush then crash? I feel like I don't have energy if i put 2 much sugar in my pre-workout drink.
