Alternating Exercises For Same Muscle Group

I've been alternating A and B style for the major muscle groups, and would like to get other's opinions on whether or not you think this is effective. What I've been doing is, using the chest as an example, pushups and bent arm pullovers during the Monday workout then incline presses and straight arm pullovers on Wednesday. I go back to the A set on Friday, B next Monday, and so on.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

First...drop pushups b/c of the lack of the ability to use load.

Secondly there is nothing wrong with alternating exercises as long as you can keep up with your workouts according and make progress every other workout.

Personally I do both...but if I am dead serious on trying to gain as much muscle as possible I always keep it simple.

Pick 4 big lifts and EAT and make sure you are adding weight to the bar over time!

IF you can progressively do that with A / b workouts great!

It just seems easier to keep track of minimal exercises for me!

Good luck!

Thanks Joe.

Regarding the pushups - I incorporate HST principles into them, progressing in sets as well as increasing difficulty in angle (changing from flat to incline pushups with my feet up on the bench) as the cycle goes on. Seems to work for me, but are you thinking that my workouts would be better served by dropping the pushups and alternating from incline press to decline?
