Are your gains consistent from cycle to cycle?

Just finished my first cycle gained 11lbs. very happy with it.

my question:
For those who have done a few cycles: did you see your gains remain consistent? or did your big gains come the first cycle and then the other cycles gains weren't as big?
I know it has a lot to do with nutrition, however just wondering from personal experence...thanks

Great gains, delichani! After a lot of cycles (I've stopped counting, but I've been doing HST for several years), I've seen my gains vary. Some cycles are great, others not so, probably due to nutrition (I've occasionally purposely cut or bulked), but also maybe due to the variations I put into my program. I will agree with O&G that frequency seems to be important for maximizing response. I see my best gains when I do a 6-day, push-pull split, and when I did 2x/day, 6x/week it was even better (alas, I don't have the time to keep that kind of schedule up for long).

Overall, I think it's these two things that probably matter most, although I'm sure load does too, of course. I haven't experimented much with this, and have actually increased my load only about 15% since starting HST way back when. At my age, I don't feel a compelling need to increase weight if I'm still getting reasonable gains just by adhering to the basic HST paradigm.

HTH!

Gains always have to slow down at some point. The the trick is to figure what you can do to stimulate them again. For me, at least for today, hitting each bodypart with low volume (i.e. 1 set) twice per day is really working well. A couple months from now I may have to up the volume a bit to spike further growth. Alternatively, however, one of the many great things about HST is that you can always SD your way back into a growth mode. But, at some point, which I have never hit in about 46 years of lifting, you may hit that theoretical genetic max point. Then you might as well curl up and die.

Curl up an DIE, no way we need you O&G! and you too Jake! Just cause you two are part of the 50's crowd doesn't mean we don't fully expect to be reading your guy's posts for many years to come.

I say, Genetics be Damned and God Bless Amuricka, I think that's how George says it. :D and no he's not a true TEXAN he's a transplant (ssshhh no one is supposed to know ;) )

Awww shucks, Dan- I can feel the love

Can you feel that, O&G?? The feeling's quite mutual (even if you *are* a youngster)... Just don't do anything nucular!
