clustering question for vicious

How long should you rest between sets if your clustering during the 2 weeks following the 5's?

Eg if you have a rep target of 10 for squats and you can do 3 intially, then sets of 2 till completion, what kind of rest period is ideal between bouts?

I'm not Vicious, but I think you're already dropping low enough in the amount of work per set to compromise TUT.

I'm not Vicious but I'll tell what I do and also make another statement.

1. Since I work in a mini circuit it takes about 2 minutes before I hit the same exercise, so I get around a 2 minute rest and it seems to work for me.

Statement, it seems to me that if your target reps are that low why worry about clustering to begin with, just go with straight sets of 5, concentrate on the 1st set and get what you can on the next.

There's a variation where you start with short rest periods and increase it periodically (20 rep squats is a cousin of this, actually), but it's not something I'd do during post-5s.  You could try maybe during the next cycle if you're looking for a change.

So, the standard byline is is to take as long as need be, really.  1-5 minutes.  If you gained muscle through the first 6 weeks of HST, you're probably strong enough to muster at least one or two increments with the clustering.  And, so, one way to go is to work one week with your 5RM toward 10 reps.  The week after, use a slightly heavier weight.  In both cases, you'd use cluster minisets of 1-3 reps to get where you want to go.  If you do something like this, though, you should throw in a 15s burn set to bring up the metabolic work.

cheers,
Jules
