does protein expire?

hi,

i bought some protein pretty much a year ago, it's been sitting in a bag in my kitchen cupbord since. do you think it's still safe to use? does protein expire? will it still be effective?

The expiration date on proteins is the "sell by" date. It is good for at least another 6 months depending on how it was stored.

If it got wet, it will not last as long.

If it was exposed to high heat, it will not last as long.

If it was stored in a cool dry place, it will last long after the "sell by" date.

also depends on how well they removed the thermophiles amongst others during processing
