how do we know protein powder are real?

how do we know that protein powder are for real and are as beneifical as they sound. For example whey, how do we know its good? How do we know when our doctors say that protein powder are just fake bs, that they aren't right? how?

How do we know anything is real?

*cue dramatic music*
Dum dum dummmmmmmmm.....

Good? depends on what you are meaning by good

Real? what do you think it is? cardboard?

What are doctors meaning by fake? made up? sorta like the drug trials?

Protein supplement powders are just that supplements. If you are eating enough protein through your normal daliy eating they aren't needed. They are an easy and convenient way of eating more protein.

The Biological Value (BV) is a scale of measurement used to determine what percentage of a given nutrient source is utilized by the body. The scale is most frequently applied to protein sources, particularly whey protein. Biological Value is derived from providing a measure intake of protein, then determining the nitrogen uptake versus nitrogen excretion. The theoretical highest BV of any food source is 100%. In short - BV refers to how well and how quickly your body can actually use the protein you consume.

Whey protein isolate, which has the highest rating of protein created in a lab, is rated 159. The highest rated food are whole eggs, rated 100.

WPI has not got a 159 BV no matter what the company is pushing.

If you look at the equation the only way anything could get above 100 is by magically creating nitrogen. If they can manage this I want them to turn coal into gold.

BV = (Ndiet- (Nfaeces exog-Nfaeces endog) - (Nurine exog- Nurine endog) x 100) / (Ndiet - (Nfaeces-Nendogenous)

where N is nitrogen.

Ndiet is nitrogen from the diet ie whey
Nfaeces is nitrogen in the faecal matter either total or exog(enous) or endog(enous)
Nurine is nitrogen in the wizz either total or exog(enous) or endog(enous)

Goodluck putting that into a calculater
