Meat grown in laboratory

According to reports, scientists have managed to grow a form of meat in a laboratory for the first time.

I'm sure there's more info about this but here's what I've read:

HA! My ol' lady throws stuff out just 3 days old! This will never work at my house!

Seriously, how do you "create" proteins? I have some real doubts as to the content of this stuff. And the differences between it and living meat that performed work and was created from many variables and nutrients.
...and I'll bet it costs more than real meat!
