This topic probably spans from this forum, thru the beginers forum and out the nutrition forum. But I figure this is the best place for it =)

My simple question is this:
Are these elevated protein intakes needed for the duration of sustaining gains? In other words, lets say I put on 5lbs of LBM. Can weights/HST alone protect these gains or must I maintain the 1g/1lb of body weight for protein?
I'd just like to know what I'm about to get into... I've heard long term high protein intake can be rough on the kidneys. While I'm not here to debate the validity of this statement, it does have me somewhat concerned.
