Protein shakes

Hi there!

Just a few questions for anybody to answer if they like...

Are their any physiological advantages or disadvantages to having 70-75% of protein intake daily protein shakes? I am currently having 5 protein shakes a day... Is it important to have a good mixture of protein sources, tuna, chicken, eggs...?

Thanks

Whoa! That`s lot of shakes. First of all why don`t you get your proteins from solid food?

You should be getting good mixture of slow and fast proteins. Protein is a protein and because i dont know the content of your shake ì cannot say more but there should`t be any physiological disadvantages if ratio is right. But that`s the case also with "normal" food.

From Eating for Size

"PROTEIN (Protein provides 4 calories per gram)
Plan on eating 0.8-1 gram protein per pound bodyweight. Most people usually shoot for 1 gram/pound body weight because it's an easy rule to remember.

First choose a lean protein source such as fish or boneless skinless chicken breast. These are only examples however, any lean meat or protein supplement will do. Beef is just fine as well, just make sure you trim all visible fat, and only use the leanest ground beef."
