You're "creating an environment" of squatting 4 days a week...

You're exploiting the fact that muscles are sensitive to load increases, as such in the Smolov Jr. program, weights and reps fluctuate up and down, but always progressively heavier.

You're doing a lot of work as opposed to Dorianating your workouts, as it is believed that mechanical load is more important than perceived efforts.



So with those premises, can we conclude that I, as someone who doesn't train for bodybuilding purposes, do HST?

I got legs to show for it. lol
 
In my opinion, daily periodization is just a tweaking of the HST principles and does not negate its use. I have been using DUP with HST for over a year now with good results.

HST is designed for hypertrophy. The Smolov program is designed for for strength building. However, that does not mean that there are not some overlapping principles but the end goals are not the same.

Smolov is a good program for what it is designed for.
