So if your 10 rep max for Bench Press is 175 lbs, it's more beneficial to start at say 110 and work your way up to 175 or just do 2 cycles of bench press while using 175 at each workout?
 
If you've deconditioned first, then you would want to work your way up to your max, because the muscles will still respond to the lower weight.
