Bryan Haycock Administrator Staff member Jul 11, 2005 #2 Full squats are only important if you are going to compete in a strength even involving squats. 90 degree squats will accomplish what you're after size-wise. Going parallel to the floor is probably as low as anyone really needs to go.

Bryan Haycock Administrator Staff member Jul 12, 2005 #4 These are called "box squats" and are very popular among highschool athletics. I personally don't like them because they can compress the spine if done improperly. Nevertheless, a lot of coaches use them.
