About 10-15% of the calories in most of the foods we consider "pure carbohydrate" (e.g. pasta, cereal, bread, spuds, etc.) actually come from protein.
I've read that one should count this "protein from carbs" towards one's daily total, but somehow I feel I'm short-changing myself if I do this, especially on days when I'm actively replenishing glycogen and going heavy on the carbs, when I get so much protein in my carbs that less than 40% of my total protein calories end up coming from animal sources.
What do you all do? Do you count the protein in non-animal sources towards your daily protein quota?
Thanks in advance,
kynn
