    Knowledge vs Experience

Just wondering what you guys thought - What makes someone an "expert" in building muscle? Someone who has read and comprehended all the various training methods and practices and understands the pros and cons of each (but has an average build) OR someone with average genetics who has...

    how many meals a day?

Leanlifter, I follow the Warrior Diet 5 - 6 days a week (usu not on sundays since football season started). I have dropped from 242 @ 16% bf to 235 @ 13% bf over a 3 month period. Bob

    dumbbell front raise

No, just keep going until you hurt yourself. Just kidding. With all the pressing compounds movements in most people's workout; the front delts get plenty of work. Front raises aren't really necessary for the majority.

    Order of exercises

daxie, I have had good success with the following order: Biceps Chest Back Shoulders Triceps Legs Calves Abs For me, this does a few things: 1.  Look forward to going to the gym because I don't have to do Squats or Deadlifts first. 2.  "Warmed-up" Stabilizers for heavy leg work. 3...

    Still doing arm isolations?

Chthonian and jvroig gave good advice. Just do them. Compounds hit the arms hard; but heavy curls and dips (chest up) helped my arms over a size plateau. bob

    Quickest way to Cut

b0xm0ns73r, Google "Warrior Diet." Different approach, some hate it, some love it. bob

    Still doing arm isolations?

b0xm0ns73r, Just a thought - You're working out 6 days per week, doing 2 sets of everything plus cardio.  That's a decent amount of volume. If adding 2 sets of arms to your routine is going to throw you into overtraining; you are already right at the edge.  I guess what I'm saying is; unless you...

    Protein Pulse Feeding

You can bulk using the Warrior diet.  I got up to 248 lbs.  On the other, I started at a weight of 230; so an increase of 7-8% in bodyweight might not be significant enough to mean anything. Bob

    Timing of workouts and meals

Hi guys, I was just reading through this thread and saw that someone mentioned the Warrior Diet.  I started following the diet (loosely) at a bodyweight of approx. 230 lbs. and went up to a peak of 248 lbs at 16% bodyfat (I'm now 237 @ 13%).  You can gain muscle and strength following the...

    Still doing arm isolations?

I still do arm exercises like curls, close-grips, etc. I find they are most beneficial when I "treat" them as a compound movement and give them the same priority as Squats, Deads and the other large core movements. By priority I mean the same amount of physical and mental effort to...

    your results with HST...

I've been employing HST principles in my workout for about 2 months now.  Started at 242 lbs @ 15.5% bodyfat and today was 237 lbs @ 13%.  If my math is correct, I've gained 1.7 lbs of muscle and lost 6.7 lbs of fat.  8.4 lbs total change.  Nothing spectacular, but I'm pleased so far.

    Routine Suggestion

Totentanz, I workout in the morning also and skipping the breakfast plus a caffiene pill gives me a good "workout buzz." Most times I do take some watered down gatorade to the gym and sip while warming up. From my expereince, total cals make you fat. I wish I had measured my bodyfat...

    Routine Suggestion

Baby A, No problem with the hijacking. And your suggestion with the pre and post nutrition is the 1st change I will make. I guess I'll just have to break down and buy some protein powder! Eating minimally during the day and heavy at night helped me break the 18" arm plateau, along with...

    Routine Suggestion

Baby A, That's a good question. To be honest, I've never really thought a lot about nutrition or training until the last couple of months or so. The best response I can give is that I have had very modest goals: get big, get strong, relieve stress and most importantly just enjoy the training...

    Routine Suggestion

Biz & DKM, I want to thank you guys for responding. I can imagine you guys get tired of "how does my routine look" posts, so again I appreciate it. Biz - I've always been a natural lifter, no AAS. I 've got quite a few buddies who are on stuff but they all seem to be miserable...
