I want to focus on arms on my next cycle.
My thinking so far:
Biceps:
- Supinated Chins ("Pull ups")
- some sort of curls
Triceps:
- Dips
- Skullcrushers or Lying Triceps Extension
Anybody got any recommendations or preferences? My gym doesn't have the facilities for Preacher...
Try working with dumbbells rather than barbells - that way your weak side can't cheat and let your strong side take all the weight and do most of the work. Pay attention to keeping good form. Where possible, work your weaker side first, and then don't do any more than that on your stronger side...
I've just finished my third round of HST. I did a cutting cycle this time - after the holidays, my trousers were a little too tight around my waist for comfort.
I did a six-week cycle, starting with the 10s. For the negatives, I estimated my "zero-rep maximum" (i.e. just a little...
I use a log[book] if I'm measuring maxes or not doing HST (which hasn't been for a while). If I'm doing an HST cycle I'll have a little printout about the size of a credit card i can keep in my pocket with the week's weights on it. I have an Excel spreadsheet that works out all the weights for...
Ah, from the sound of it, that was a BMI calculator - Body Mass Index, which isn't the same as body fat.
BMI isn't that useful for "athletic" people - i.e. people with above average muscle mass.
Calipers are probably the best, but try this in the meantime...
1. It's free
Information should be free. Real scientists don't sell their findings, they submit it for peer review. I'm always suspicious of books (e- or paper), websites, or people who claim that you'll "never find a better workout routine than this one right here!" Problem is, as...
I decided to call off my second round of HST after almost seven weeks. I got sick and an extra week off work before Christmas, which seemed a good excuse to call a halt.
Routine
I focused mainly on upper body this round, with only squats for the legs.
5 min warmup on stationary bike.
Bench...
It's the same thing. ;-)
0.4536 is (round about) the inverse of 2.2. Multiplying by a value is the same as dividing by it's inverse, or: x/y = x*(1/y)
Chris.
Omega 3, 6 & 9 are names for groups of poly- and monounsaturated fatty acids. They can't be produced by the body, hence their name Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs)
Omega 3 (Polyunsaturated):
ALA - Alpha linolenic acid
EPA - Eicosapentaenoic acid
DHA - Docosahexaenoic acid
DPA (omega 3) -...
I've been thinking of doing almost exactly the same thing.
I was going to figure out a weight progression for each exercise, so that each day I'd have both a weight and a number of reps scheduled. I'd do one set at the scheduled number of reps, then the same or one of two more on the second...
