    Response to rep ranges

Hey Joe :) Aww, come on, after I habitually gently bash the book ("Arnold's Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding") several times? :D Kidding. It's just full of a lot of myths that it isn't really worth citing at all. (Myths like the "confusion principle" - attacking a muscle with...

    Start of Final Week!

If you have the flu, then you should rest. Just let that be the start of your SD. Assuming you are well enough already, you can start the next cycle after a week or so. Regards, -JV

    Next phase

Hey, Not to purposely refute your answer Dmitris, you pretty much nailed it, but see below, or just the highlighted ones. So when you said: ... that's not really true. As in hypertrophy, chronic stimulation is key. And when it comes to preserving muscle tissue (MPS levels more than MPD...

    Response to rep ranges

Perfectly all right, although that would make it a little bit of a logistics nightmare. But if you can arrange it well and it doesn't confuse you, go ahead. I'm not sure if this is part of your problem but you may also consider that perhaps it is a matter of insufficient glycogen synthesis or...

    Cutting and HST

If you can increase, then yes. Better for strength, regardless of whether you are cutting or not.

    SD after time off??

Add 20% to your 15RM to estimate your 10RM. Add 15% to your 10RM to estimate your 5RM. Good luck, buddy. Regards, -JV

    Have I missed anything?

Sorry, but that's just wrong. Using different exercises to hit the muscles don't delay RBE. I think what you are referring to is the "confusion principle" where you "confuse" the muscle with different exercises in order to shock it to growth. That's a myth. It doesn't work...

    exercises order

Yep, same here. If I do deads before everything else, it's going to be a not-very-rewarding workout for me. So I do deads at the end of all my compounds, then any isos after that.

    Pete Sisco

Oops, I admit, I should have read the whole thing than just focus on the fact that he said "fewer exercises". Now that I read it again, yep, his "intensity" is far off. I can't believe it, he was about to get it right, then made a 180 and missed the train entirely.   I...

Need HELP!  I am too SKINNY.

Nice to know we've got new people who actually like the science behind it. Count calories, understand the principles of muscle growth and apply it, and you won't be skinny for long. Oh, and of course, rest. Try to get enough sleep, and control your stress levels. And last thing: there is...

    Have I missed anything?

Hey Joe :) Wouldn't want to change your routine so much (to the point that it looks like mine! :)), but you got it good. Few exercises, just the way I like it. All I want to add is, when the weights get heavier, add in some arm isos for metabollic work. You can even start right now (or wait...

    Progression Confusion

It's simply a way to effectively stay ahead of the RBE curve. (More on this later) It's all about making workouts productive, as you also touched. If it weren't for the CT coming to party, we wouldn't need to go for progression (no RBE, hence no need to implement a way to stay ahead of it). Is...

Yeah seems like it. Well, with all the available research on hypertrophy and weightlifting, he'd have to be a complete jack a-s-s not to read something good and then share it to his "customers". Anyhoo, what he did fail to say is the subtle but important point of exercise selection...

    Another Dead WWE Wrestler

The real problem with this discussion is the "steroid-phobic" or "anti-steriod crusade" attitude. Once someone dies, who is suspected to have used steroids, they point the finger to steroids. Immediately. Despite the galring fact of a lot of other greater factors. Wow...

    HST for youngsters?

I believe that may be because that it isn't really just an "excessive" load that is needed to affect the growth plates (or epiphyseal plates, or epiphyseal cartilages, whatever you want to call it) negatively. The heavier, the higher the chances. So they recommended to err on the side...

    12 months of HST

I think what he meant by that was simply to point out that weights even as light as 20-205RM can cause growth in certain cases, meaning they aren't "too light for growth", from which he reasonably points out it probably still causes some connective tissue growth - or at the very least...

    HST for youngsters?

Of course, actually applying the load progression would be tricky. 11 year old kids, especially those you want to pack a little more weight, probably can't lift as much to begin with. Anyhoo, after the bloody task of getting the weight ranges he'll lift, and figuring out an increment (I suppose...
