    Hi

I am just about to start my first HST routine so need to find my max weights for the rep ranges. I guess I'm going to have to do at least one workout at maximum load in order to work out what weights to select. Doesn't that have an effect on the concept of progressive load as I actually have to start at the max weight per exercise and then drop to lighter weights and work back up? Or, is it better to make an educated guess at the 15/10/5 rep max so as to avoid the initial intense workout?

im also new to HST but i believe the best advice is to find your 15RM numbers like today, then your 10RM numbers wed, and your 5s on friday...then take 9-14 days off and then start your cycle

Exactly. Find your maxes before you SD, not after. Plan out your cycle, then SD for at least 9 days before beginning the cycle.

Many thanks both of you, that clears it up.
