Grub

DA MAN

Once again being an engineer and a moron has gotten me into trouble... I have an 8 hour exam tomorrow (The fundamentals of engineering exam) and we are only allowed having liquid (and i am not even sure about that...). I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions besides like gatorade or the like and protein powder for grub through that bad boy. if i go more than a few hours w/o food, i go dumb (even more so than usual...), so i NEED somethin during this puppy. Any suggestions are appreciated.

What kind of school allows only liquid meals during an 8hr exam?

You could easily blend in stuff like fruits, oatmeal, nuts, and oils into your protein shakes. Tastes good, too.

8 hours!!!!!!!! holy crap. how is anyone supposed to concentrate for that long....let alone sit in one chair for that length of time!

I take it you are after optimum brain performance for this exam. The brain uses only glucose. Nothing else. In times of low blood glucose, the body will synthesise glucose from energy stores inorder to supply the brain.

-have yourself a great big plate of pasta with your dinner tonight
-include a good meal full of slow digesting carbs in the morning before the exam (a big extra-large bowl of oats etc).
-Keep yourself well hydrated throught the entire exam- drink plenty of cold water (starting NOW!!!).
-Get plenty of sleep tonight (at LEAST 8 hours).
-Make yourself 3 smoothies to last you the duration. perhaps one every 2-3 hours or something. Try blended cottage cheese and fresh fruit. Or banana, whey, milk and yogurt.

I personally would avoid the simple sugars (gatorade etc). I think you are better off with stable blood sugar levels rather than bringing them up and having them crash down.

That is what i would do in your situation.
(p.s. stop reading this and get your @$$ back to the books!)

Good luck!!!

ohio university is whack sometimes... i cant get a straight answer on whether or not we can have food....

thanks for the suggestions! and now my butt is back to the books. :)

funny you should mention that..... we were only allowed going one at a time, and since there were 60 ppl in the room... i didnt get to pee that often. that was kind of a pain. but i made some nice fruit/protein gooey shakes and slurped those bad boys down during that 8 hour hell. It kept me pretty in touch with reality- no blood sugar ramps or crashes, no drooling or falling asleep. all in all pretty good. the test itself, however, kicked my butt up and down the street a few times....
