Pre workout meal

Whenever I've tried a protein+cars pre workout meal, I've always got sick during the workout. I can minimise this feeling buy having the meal 2 hours before the workout, but I suspect there is little point having it that early.

At the moment I'm having a sportsdrink (carbs + salts) before the workout and I'm feeling OK. How important is the protein ? What can I do if I want the protein but do not want to get sick ?

HAve you tried to take it during the workout instead. Have a normal meal 1.5-2.5 hours before then sip on protein/carb mix through the workout. The idea is to start drinking it after your warm up to avoid a rebound in blood sugar.

You could also try splitting it up and take the protein alone .5 hour before and start on the carbs immediately before.
