Ok, so the basic question here is - simple or complex carbs after you work out?
I've read almost everything out there on pre/post workout nutrition. I've read Haycock's stuff, Brink's stuff, AST's stuff....everything is pointing towards glucose (dextrose) pre and post workout.
Lately, however, i've been seeing traces of opposition. There's a thread over on bodybuilding.com, over 6 pages long on people explaining why low gi is better for after workouts.
Also, i noticed that in a post, Bryan said that he was gonna put mostly low gi carbs in his Driver + formula.
Bryan, you say fast protein before, slow after. But what do you say about carbs?
Also, Im 160 lbs. How many carbs do i need pre/post workout? I'm currently bulking. I read 1 lb/kg post workout, but howbout pre workout?
Thanks in advance,
Dave

The reason you hear conflicting views is because it doesn't really matter. What is more important is your total carb intake over the course of the day.

What's more important is that you have a protein drink before and after. You can then have whatever source of carbs you like afterwards. Once the muscle cell has replenished its glycogen stores, glycogen synthesis will slow down to baseline. If you fill them up sooner, they return to baseline sooner. If you fill them up slowly, they return to baseline slowly.

Any normal carb source (potato, rice, bread, GP, dextrose, etc) will raise insulin more than enough. You don't have to gag down a pound of sugar if you don't want to. :D

sounds fine. Dont worry about 10g difference here and there, its not going to make much of a difference.
