the truth about calories?

Started cutting back in Jan. 06, went from 215 to presently 190 lbs @ 5'9" Can't seem to lose or gain weight.Fitday says that I burn 3500 calories a day, yet another source says 2280, another 2800 and so on. I have been eating around 2400 to 2800 carolies a day. Lost a 1/2" on my arms. I want to start bulking again with minimal fat gain. I am 36 yrs old, so my metabolism has slowed down I'm sure. Any suggestions on what calorie range to start. I am not sure what my true maint. caloric intake is.
