Whats best in calories and quantity

The goal is around 2700 to 3000 cals a day

Is it better to eat real high cals for meals and shakes in between or say several 500 cal meals for like 6 x a day?
 
doesn't matter.

just have a good breakfast and some slower protein before bed, as well as pre-and post workout nutrition.
