Biometric Feedback

I recently bought a Fitbit just to check my morning heart rate will see what that tells me if of course it is accurate but at least it's a guide line of heart rate

Edit: looking back at the end of the 15s block my average resting heart rate was 65 and during the first week of the 10s it lowered to 61 by Thursday where it stayed until this Thursday (2nd week of 10s) when it increased to 63 and was 64 today.

Its probably known but HRV and HR measurements are different. For HRV you really need a chest strap since phone sensors aren't sensitive enough.

@Jester I will update tomorrow, I just "finished" a cycle and am about to start another.
I also ordered a chest strap heart monitor so I look forward to putting that to use.

I received my chest strap heart monitor, I picked up the Polar H7 a pretty common and cheap but highly rated chest strap. I've done it two mornings so far with a 54hrv yesterday and a 59hrv today. I don't really know what that means yet and I will just be tracking it for my next lifting cycle to see if the correlation is evident.

I am using an app called Elite HRV which seems pretty handy. It takes 2 and a half minutes each test.

Today was the first day HRV told me I was overreaching a bit. I did my workout and pulled 425 and the additional volume work the night before. So I pulled 425 again today and the movement was a little better. I was definitely not feeling 100% but at this point I am not really sure HRV is telling me anything my body doesn't feel. Regardless I look forward to see how my HRV results this week as I recover. Friday I am going to go for 435 a 5lb pr assuming everything lines up.

@adpowah - following your purchase of the Polar H7 and the downloading of the Elite HRV app would you recommend spending the cash for those of us interested in how our body actually reacts to training and other stresses in life

Its too early for me to tell you. Right now its a little hard for me to see the benefit.

HRV told me I am good to go. I am feeling a little off like I might be getting sick, so I am going to attempt 435 but take it easy on the rest of my lifts.

Greg Nuckols and Mike Tuchscherer (from memory) are two guys I would update myself on if interested in biometric feedback. Personally, I consider bar-speed monitoring to be part of this; effective measure of in-session fatigue.

I've been monitoring morning heart rate since the original post. I was at 55 bpm consistently during SD. I'm in the third week of my HST cycle, and the my RHR just keeps climbing. This morning I was at 70 BPM. I was at real high volume during the first week. I tried dropping volume the 2nd week, but it didn't seem to make a huge difference. Something else I find strange is that it doesn't seem to correlate that well with how I feel. Today was my highest BPM yet, but I feel more motivated to workout today than I have on some other days.

I'm not sure what to do with the info, so in the mean time, I'm just adjusting volume on the fly.

If you have a smart phone it may be worth investing in a Bluetooth Heart Rate Sensor such as the Polar H7 and a HRV app as this will give you more info regarding how your body is reacting to your training

Are you comparing morning heart rates or do you have an apples and oranges situation going on?

Or maybe Santa stiffed you on Christmas and you are just pissed off. :p

I probably will. I also got a hand dynometer yesterday, so we'll see what that tells me.
