2016 Log

DL; 3-200kg, 1-220kg@1?, 230kg@sub-5, 240kg@5, 250kf@6, 260kg@8, 270kg@9. 280 didn’t budge. Think I got in my head a tiny bit re: positioning. Also maybe should have gone 220-240-260-280 because it was clicking so well early on. Ah well, tomorrow then.

WG OBHP; 5-60kg, 3-80kg, 3x3-85kg@8.5.

Pull-ups; bw-15 reps.

DL; 3-200kg, 1-220kg, 240kg@4, 260kg@8, 280kg. Took three attempts to get the positioning right. 4x2-250kg@9.

Cable rows; 5x8-120kg. These are just so good for deadlifting.

DL; 3-200kg, 1-220kg, 240kg@5, 250kg@6.5, 260kg@8, 280kg@9.5. Moved a lot faster once it broke.

WG OHP; 5-60kg, 4x5-80kg@8. Making lower back feel less than great on right side, may need an alternate option.

Pull-ups; bw-15 reps.

280 on the daily now!!

Getting there. Going to do max single everyday, even though I probably stick to a double on Tuesday. Just want/need to see what’s in the tank.

Interestingly, this is only working because in not adhering to what you might call SS setup deadlifts. I can’t imagine trying to do this with hamstring DOMs everyday. So much stronger and more natural with a rounded back.

I keep coming back to what Brian Alsruhe says; within reason, if you brave correctly and hard enough, your back is going to be fine.

DL; 3-200kg, 1-220kg, 240kg@5, 250kg@7, 260kg@8, 280kg@9.75. 260kg got away out front but was surprisingly easy to finish, rather than restart the rep.

Cable rows; 3x8-130kg.

Cable-crunches; 2x12-40kg. Found a good groove for these at last, reduced ROM with minimal movement at hips, abs only.

DL; 3-200kg, 1-220kg, 240kg@5, 250kg@7, 260kg@8, 280kg@9.75.

Did some more ab work.

Cable crunch;

10-40kg
5-50kg
5-60kg

Ouch

DL; 3-200kg, 1-220kg, 240kg@5, 250kg@7, 260kg@8, 280kg@9.75. 4x2-250kg@8.5-9.

Cable rows; 4x8-130kg.

30 degrees overnight ... gotta love a heatwave ...

Evening;
Cable crunches; 3x8-60kg.

Had to take Soph to emergebcy at 3:30am. Turns out she has croup. Shit start to the day but she’s doing ok, thankfully.

DL; 3-200, 1-225kg@?, 245kg@7.5, 255kg@8, 265kg@8.5-9, 285kg@10. Erectors were on the verge of straining. Shouldn’t have pursued it but did, probably a very mild(est) strain or tender SI area. 1-225kg, 1,2-245kg. Just to make sure things were ok.

Cable crunches; 10-40kg, 2x8-60kg.

Leg raises 2x8. Hard when done correctly.

Plate delt raises; 4x8-20kg.

Going to leave out OHP for a bit, lower back is not enjoying it at all these days. Might work back in next week with belt perhaps.

Going back to 4 pull sessions a week. Just not confident I can recover for five straight.

Evening;

1-200kg, 220kg, 240kg, 260kg.

DL; 3-200kg, 2-220kg, 2-230kg, 1-240kg, 1-250kg. 260kg wasn’t likely today given issue from yesterday.

Cable rows;4x8-130kg.

Hypers; 5-60kg.

Might do a bit more later on.

Afternoon;

1-220kg, 240kg, 260kg@8.5, 270kg@9.75.

Much better technique, might have a new cue figured.

Also upon further reflection, I think going to a slightly lighter single on Wednesday’s may be better than adding volume elsewhere, when lifting at these sorts of loads.

DL; 3-200kg,220kg, 1-240kg@7, 250kg@8, 260kg@9-9.5. 270kg wouldn’t quite budge, I’ll try later. 4x2-240kg@7.5.

Cable rows; 4x8-130kg.

Went back about 6hrs later;

1-220kg, 240kg, 260kg, 280kg. Just had to get it. Strain/SI is sorted.

DL; 3-200kg, 1-220kg, 230kg, 240kg@6.5, 250kg@8, 260kg@8.5-9, 270kg@10, 280kg wasn’t budging.

Dealing with snapping hamstring tendon in left knee since Saturday evening. Extremely frustrating and pissing me off, had nothing in the mid-range of the reps today.

WG OHP; 5, 3x8-60kg. If I keep the load lighter then it doesn’t aggravate SI. Super wide grip might make the lighter load still matter enough.
