Hello.
My goal on chins is to do 20 total reps whit my 5RM, to have enougth workloud for hypertrophy. The problem is that I can only do 10 reps!!
Look:
My BW is 165 lbs.I did chins whit 61 lbs around my waist. That is my 5rm.Did 5 perfect and full reps.rested 3 min, then only did 3, rested 2 min, and did 2 reps. Now, If I wanted to reach 20 total reps this will last to long!!
How can I fix this? Why so litlle endurance? Can only 10 reps be enougth?
After the 2 reps set, I rested 2 min and did pull-ups whit only my BW, and did only 4 reps!!!
Help!!

Might I say that you're doing well.
You may find yourself into a catch-22 with this goal: as you increase reps your strength comes up, increasing your 5rm, which lowers the reps total...heheh...this could go on forever!
Might I suggest that you try Max Stim with the present weight, putting any clusters you can do at the end of the set. As your strength increases, your clusters should possibly become larger as you go, and theoretically, you would eventually be doing your 20-rep cluster.
Then you could check your new 5rm and go again.

Thank's Quad.
Any sugestion for M-Time?What is the average M-Time when the trainer is on 5RM?
Thank you!!

If you are increasing the volume, especially on a taxing exercise like weighted chins, you may need to lower the weight temporarily. Use a weight that you CAN manage to barely make it to 20 reps, then increase from there. I wought wait until I could go 25 reps with the current weight to increase again and shoot for 20.

Or do 7 triples. That will lave more fuel in the tank than trying to do 5 off the bat, which is your max. I have poor endurance on chins as well.

When I am lifting heavy, my M-time starts out at about 3 seconds per rep, then adds a second or so for every rep. Just a suggestion...

I agree with the others. Take your 5RM load and bang out 20 Max-Stim reps gradually increasing the M-time as the 'set' progresses. You will get a feel for how long you need to wait between reps once you have tried this a few times. Come the last handful of reps you might need to wait 30 seconds or so between reps.

Triples are also good to try but you may find fatigue catches up with you before 20 reps when using your 5RM load if you don't rest long enough between sets. 7 sets should be doable.

I've noticed a large range of M-time depending on the lifter. I'm new to MS and certainly no expert, but I'll bet the "work hard" rule will apply within the limits of allowing you to finish the sets, so it's up to your level of conditioning.
Us Old Dawgs need a bit more time, but like Tunnel, I don't take a freekin' vacation either. I limit the 20 rep MS standard set to no more than 15 secs M-time.

Consider that 4 heavy sets of 5 with 3 minutes rest between sets could take about 10/11 minutes to complete.

20 MS reps with an average of just 15 seconds M-time will take 4m 45s for M-time plus the time for all reps – say 5s per rep with set up time – 1m 40s which would make the whole MS set take 6m 25s.

So, if you only used 15 seconds as your average M-time to lift 20 reps with your 5RM load you would be doing very well indeed. I think you might need to take longer as the set progresses but as Quad says, you'll need to see how you get on and adjust accordingly.

...uhoops...I meant I TRY to limit the M-time to 15 secs...gets kinda hard when the weights go up, heheh.
I don't see a full 5 minutes being necessary for a 5 rep set tho...I don't even go that long with the 5x5 in the first sets. Again, it can become necessary when you start hitting maxes; you'll still be huffing.
