Grapefruit for cutting

You might want to rethink that not based on this study but based on sound nutrition.

.3 Lbs per week, not a whole lot to speak of.

This could account for the weight loss also, maybe not the grapefruit.

FYI, other reports on this study express the use of a control group, which consumed no grapefruit, exercised with the rest, but experienced no weight loss.

That said, the study was co-funded by the Florida Department of Citrus and appears to have undergone no peer scrutiny.
