Muscle and fat weight gains

Here's a question.

I asked this in the nutrition section, yet I got no replies! Doesn't anyone know how much fat they gain per pound of muscle??

During bulking season, how much fat should you expect to gain per LBM gains?

In other words, how much fat are you gaining per pound of muscle? I am wondering what folks' averages are.

Thanks...

I would guess gains are roughly 1:1 unless you are a newbie (and from your stats you're not). Bulking is unforgiving, but I believe that cutting is the magic thing. You can keep a lot of the earned mass while shedding off fat.

We have tried to crack the magic box open in the past, trying to decipher the best way to gain lean mass and the IF (Intermittant Fasting) approach is the closest thing to bulking and cutting at the same time. It works, but even a pro like Martin Berkhan (big on IF) gained at an 1:1 ratio. IF or any other EOD (Every other day) diet incorporates cutting phases and bulking phases over short periods of time

And the amount of gains (fat and lean mass) is tied to the caloric levels. But the higher your protein intake and higher your physical activity level, the better your P-ratio becomes: more muscles, less fat.

Hm. I guess I answered more than you asked for.

Oh, BTW, welcome to the HST forum!

Thanks nkl.

My first HST cycle I put on 3.5LBS muscle and .5 LBS fat. That cycle lasted only 5 weeks, due to an injury.

I am 4 weeks into my second HST cycle and gained 1.5LBS of each so far.

Just checking my stats against the "norms"! I used to be a powerlifter and NEVER cared about ratios - just putting on weight and lifting heavy!

If you've been away from lifting for a while and lost some LBM, regaining what was lost is usually easier, helping tilt the p-ratio towards lean gains.
