during strategic deconditioning, since your not growing could you just go back to your regular 3 meals a day with rda of protein?? than go back to your high intakes when you start again

I wouldn't stop. If you wanted to lower it you could go down to 0.8g per pound of body weight, MAYBE lower (we'll see what other say). But you definately don't want to stop.

During SD, I'd take a gram of protein per pound LBM. I'll make up the rest of my calories from carbs and fat, and probably take in about maintenance calories.

There's no need to drop below maintenance unless we are trying to lose weight during SD, which isn't a good time to go into calorie deficit since the risk of losing muscle would be so much greater.

On the other hand, to go into caloric surplus isn't the best too, since without training, what's the point of eating more?

Thus, I'd be protein adequate and keep calories at maintenance during SD.

Godspeed, and happy HSTing :)

Keep protein high (at least gram per pound) during the first 7 days following your last workout. After that it is less important as long as calories are adequate.
