SD: A good time for cutting?

I could have swore I had seen this topic title someplace on this forum when I didn't have time to read it, and now I can't find it again, even with search (should have bookmarked). Could someone point me in the right direction, or simply comment on whether the strategic deconditioning portion of HST is a good time to try to burn some fat (using cardio, of course)?

personally, I'm under the impression that growth occurs while the body is resting...so I would not cut calories during SD. but, I'm not a scientist and that's just my opinion.

my goals are strictly muscle growth though...just to give an idea as to my perspective.

Do not restrict calories during SD. If between cuts, I wouldn't even bother with SD. However, the one week or so of eating at maintenance is a good metabolism reset.

Wow, so much for that. Thanks for the quick responses guys, this forum is the best! What can be done during SD, light cardio?

Sure, just make sure you are eating at or very close to maintenance. Cutting calories while you are not lifting weights is a recipe for muscle and strength loss.

well i wasn't even planning on cutting during my SD, but i actually did LOL. I went away interstate for a week, my eating wasn't great but it was 3 biggish-meals a day, and i dropped quite a bit of bodyfat i could DEFINITELY tell. and there wasn't TOO much muscle loss i couldn't really tell, although i did lose 3kg during my SD
