Tweaking your Squats

I've been trying to find out how to modify my squat technique to target my exterior quads (vastus lateralis).

This article

seem to suggest that using a narrower stance and pointing your toes forward could do the trick.

I haven't tried it yet, but will give it a go on my next cycle.

Does anyone else have any other tips?

The quadriceps are really one muscle with different heads...My vastus lateralis is the largest part it seems, just from normal squats.
The best way to target quadriceps is to do squats with a raised heel, close-stance and no need to go deep for quadriceps. Front squats especially hit the quads hard.

Sissy squats work, but are limited in their relationship to freeweight squats.
I should add that my legs don't like to grow much, but those gave me DOMS in the outer sweeps. And you can do them with the feet actually touching.
