What does the scientific evidence say?

Is anyone aware of studies which show whether circuit-style training OR doing all sets for a given exercise/body part in a row is the better route to hypertrophy? Does it make any significant difference?
 
Pyka did some research years ago on circuit training and hypertrophy in the aged but, I don't think he compared the difference IE. circuit vs traditional rest periods, but it would be a good place to start.
