notes:
had a good workout today. I am backing up a couple weeks with my OHP weights. maybe even more than that. new goal is a strict 200 OHP.

starting to get a bit tougher to add weight to the bar with bench, deads and OHPs, I'll give this one more week and evaluate then. pretty sure my squats are still chugging along nicely. at this point, I feel this 5x5 has helped me increase strength in virtually every lift.

Now that your progression is slowing down, what do you plan to do? I think you may have already explained this? I like the idea of dropping down to 3x3 and trying to push even further. That might get dangerous with the OHP, but then those always make me nervous when going real heavy...

I'm going to drop the weight a bit and concentrate on strict presses. as of right now, the plan is to just drop back on the schedule a couple weeks and continue as I've been... maybe more than a couple weeks as I intend to eliminate push presses for the time being.
 
Very nice FF, way to go! I think the 5x5 is one of the better programs out there for increasing strength. Good to see you reaping the benefits of it so sweetly. A 200 OHP would be very impressive. You don't see people doing that kind of weight overhead to often.

Nice lifts!! How has the 5x5 been for hypertrophy? I know it's been great for strength...have you grown as well?
 
Great pressing FF. That is some heavy work. I think I'd be lucky to get one rep with 185 but I'm sure as heck going to try at the end of this cycle.

it's been about a year now.  I didn't lift much at all in December due to injury.

squatted 300 for the first time on 5-4-07

deadlifted 300 for the 1st time in July of '07.  that month, I couldn't OHP 135 for 3x5.

I deadlifted 400 for the first time in November of '07.

it's been pretty slow, but these things take time...  my goals in '08 are to pull 500 and squat 400.

if I were most disappointed in any lift right now, it would be squats.  the loads are coming slowly and form is breaking down when I'm fatigued.  but, I took a video of top set cleans yesterday and didn't think it look pathetic at all (well, the form anyway).  hoepfully I can get that posted soon (connection problems at home &amp; a firewall @ work)
 
Cleans look way better now FF. I love the way you make the weight look so light when you lower the bar back down. I have to catch it on my thighs - if I just let it drop I think I'd go for a dive!

I think I probably have a tendency to do the same when bench gets heavy but I noticed that your elbows are flaring on the way up. I have to watch that because of my shoulder/AC joint issue. Not sure it really matters if your shoulders are fine.
 
thanks Lol! I've really been working on those cleans. I'd like to catch the bar more level, but it's getting better.

the bench form is definitely an issue. I failed my top set today, so I'll back up and focus on form for a bit.

I was too embarassed to post the squat...still have butt wink at the bottom on my &quot;heavy&quot; lifts.

On the other hand, a good way to &quot;not fine&quot; shoulders is to let your elbows flare. Over time, it may begin to matter.
