in the UK, it's often cheaper to eat fish than take fish oil. E.g. you can get tinned sardines with 3g+ omega 3 for under £0.25. And I like fish
Obviously, if you're trying to gain weight, the extra calories and protein are useful, too...
re. Dr's reccommendations - in the UK, good practice on the NHS (the NICE recommendation) is for those who have had a heart attack to be advised to eat enough fish to get at least 7g of omega 3 per week.
