How often should I train

Is it better to train 5 days of the week or just two and split upper and lower. I just changed from upper and lower split for two days of the week to training five:
Monday Abs
Tuesday Chest and Biceps
Wednesday Legs
Thursday Shoulders
Friday Back and Tris

I am finding that men train more, while women seem to prefer to split upper and lower.

It all has to do with what you are trying to accomplish.
I do a full body workout using mostly compound exercise and a few isolated exercise where needed.Only 3 days a week

It depends on why you are training. If you are training for strength, you will want to train each muscle group twice per week.

While training each muscle group twice per week, you may group body parts into upper and lower body, or push and pull muscle groups. Just try to get 2 days rest between training a given muscle group. So at a minimum, you will have to go to the gym only twice per week to train with weights.

Although strength training will lead to increases in muscle size, you can increase the rate of growth by training more frequently. So, if you just want to build your physique, you will want to train each muscle group three times per week.

As with strength training, you can do full body workouts or divide the body into different muscle groups. At a minimum, using full body workouts, you will have to go to the gym 3 times per week. Of if you split the body into upper and lower halves, you will need to go 6 times per week in order to train each muscle group 3 times per week.
