do you use m time when you're deadlifting? (I think I've asked you before but can't remember)</div>
Cheers folks. Hopefully it won't be too much of a nuisance while it heals. Just depends how much they have to chop out.

Fear: re deads: no M-time, they are just consecutive reps - I just make sure the bar is properly dead on the floor and then pull again. I should have been able to manage at least one set of 10 with 375. I actually felt a bit stronger on the last set but decided not to kill myself.

Op was successful (suspect lymph node removed) and I am now enjoying the after effects! Hence, I can't sleep (it's now 3:30am). Thank goodness I have the old interweb for some late night distraction; currently awaiting for the pain killers to kick in so I can try to get some shut eye. Should get the histology report in just over a couple of weeks.

I have been ordered by the surgeon not to do anything strenuous that would affect the area for two weeks; he was concerned about any running or aerobic type activities. Lifting is much less jarring so if I feel like I'm healing well I'll probably give some light leg work a go and see how it feels. I should be able to continue to do upper body work just fine. Cleans are out of the question so my dodgy forearm should get a decent chance to heal.

Oh yeah, think I've decided on a cut. It'll be good for me to trim down for the autumn and then press on with some bulking through the winter. As I find that it's much easier for me to sustain minor injuries when my fat level drops I probably won't be trying for any PBs for a while. My goal will be to retain as much lean mass as possible (doh!) and to try and learn a bit more about fat loss along the way. Thankfully, I have plenty of knowledgeable folks I can call on here for advice too.

Thanks again for all your well wishes folks. Much appreciated.

Lol, if the doc says to take it easy for two weeks, then I think it is a great time to SD, even if you are going into a cut. You can start training again for a brand new HST cycle (cut) in June! I'm glad to hear you came out of the surgery fine buddy!

Glad to hear the operation went well. 190 sounds like a good goal for your cut. With how much weight you move, you'd have to have enough lean mass to be at 10% or lower at 190, I would think. The nice thing is that when you start to bulk again, you won't have to eat as much as you do right now in order to make gains.

Yeah man, show those lymph nodes what you got!
Take it easy for a while and I don't think you should start a heavy cut (diet) right away... your body needs nutrients to recover from the surgery.

Go for it big feller! I'll be needing plenty of motivation by the time I'm back on the PR trail again. Of course, what would upset the apple cart would be if I took a shed-load of test while on my 'cut'. Luckily for you it's not going to happen as I am not best mates with Dwain Chambers!

Tues 20/05/08

Leg is still darn sore so I can't do much for lower body or weighted chins and dips. I can bench and press and body weight chin though. Decided to do some rack pulls as I don't have to bend much for that. With my rack rods set in the lowest holes I can only set the bar to just below knee level. I'd like to be able to go a bit lower so in future I'm going to have to use some blocks to rest the weights on each side like I used to do.

Rack Pulls: 5 x 70kg, 5 x 120kg, 5 x 160kg, 5 x 190kg, 5(MS) x 210kg (462lb)

I used regular grip for the first three sets and then switched to reverse for the last two. That last set was quite easy for my grip so I did some static holds after each rep for a good 15-20 seconds.

That last set was very hard and I noticed something that I wasn't aware of when regular deadlifting: at the start of each rep I am not keeping my lowerback in extension. If I keep it in extension I find it really hard to get the bar moving. If I allow my lowerback to flatten out I can get the bar started and then the rest of the rep is fine but I'm definitely feeling a lot of strain down there. I'm thinking that this is bad and maybe why my lowerback suffers so much from deadlifting.

So, question for you folks that train this movement: Are you able to keep your lowerback in extension at the start of each rep (with bar just below knee level - sort of at the bottom of the knee cap)?

I can't offer any thoughts on the rack pull form - sorry.

But - I'm glad the operation is over and done and that the healing process has started. Good luck with the cut, Lol.

I see my comments have trickled themselves into the LOL log!

A man after my own heart! Five days after surgery and we're back in the gym! You GO bro! Hey, still prayin' for the recovery and success.

I hope you're being carful with the PK's and lifting so close to the surgery. You may have trouble noticing if you are overdoing something if the pain sensors are numbed out a bit. Please just take it easy...glad things went well! Why not take this chance for a SD?
