How to perform chest measurements

Is there a fairly standard method to measuring the chest? I can get consistant measurements on other bodyparts but chest is tricky. Thoughts?
 
I measure inline with the nipples (they are always in the same place lol).

I take two measurements one relaxed then one tensed (with lats spread).

Generally when measuring the chest, you should pull the tape under the arms and have someone hold the tape for you. Then you should breathe normally and the measurement is the middle of the largest and smallest measuerment.
 
Interesting idea Bryan. I can puff my chest up quite a bit, that might skew it a bit. I think I am just going to go with a fully puffed/inhaled measurement and just look for changes instead of an absolute measurement.
