Definitely leave the back-off sets until you need them if you are doing 5+ sessions per week.

I would aim for RPE 8 for daily minimum, and on the good days try to limit it to a 9.5. On your best day ever, a 10 is acceptable from time to time.

Hadn't necessarily planned on squatting 5 days, just getting the sessions in when I can while I can. My wife's due date for child number 2 is tomorrow, so i'll probably take a week out of the gym any day now then be a bit more structured and sensible when I get back to training.

In other news... due date for the latest arrival is today but no sign of baby making an appearance just yet.

I just posted in a thread about your appendectomy which I thought was current but now I see this thread and you are lifting decent loads again, so I guess you are all healed up which is great [emoji106]
All the very best for your imminent new arrival. Hope all goes well for your lady too. (And just in case I’m posting in another old thread, many congratulations on your new arrival! [emoji38])

Thanks @Lol yeah I’m all healed up now

And little man made his arrival in the early hours of this morning.

Hugo was born at 2:40 am weighing a whopping 9lb 5oz

Missed and baby are doing fine allthough the wife is understandably very sore

Going to take a week off training for some good family time

Congrats, mate.

Also, not too late to go with ‘Alex’

Currently enjoying a week off training and lots of family time, but next week back on it as 10 weeks until next comp so gonna plan out my training

@Jester what’s your thoughts on Bulgarian method for peaking for competition?

It’s probably ideal - literally as specific as you can get. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend 10 weeks of it, maybe 6-8. Start of with the singles, add in the back off sets as needed and then probably withdraw the backoff sets with 10-14days before the meet to taper up.

Nuckols and Omar have a video on Omar’s channel about it, with two guys who tried it.

Either that or just do 4 weeks of it prior to the meet. I’d do Sat thru Wed and have Th-F as the pseudo weekend-off, so you’re naturally in step for meet day.

Hit the gym on Friday. Worked up to singles in Squat Bench and Deadlift @90% of my current 1rm to get a feel for where my strength is going in to comp prep

Bench and deadlift felt great but squat felt like aids! Going to go back to squatting in flats to felt like I was getting pitched to far forward coming out he hole.
