Steves Reeves Routine

Reeve's physique reminds me a little of HST member Lcars. I think if Lcars cut down a bit and brought up his lats he would look a lot like that, maybe not quite as small a waist though, that was a freakish Reeves trait.

Steve Reeves with a little more fat on would be the ideal look for me. I definitely think Lcars has the closest look to Reeves of anyone I have seen on here.

I want more. You can't go by one special pose either. Other shots of him don't look very massive. Or maybe it's just the wasp waists I can't get used to.</div>
Quad, if you get bigger than that (at that level of leanness of course) I'll tip my hat to you, not many guys ever get there (naturally anyway).  I think you are pretty close, but not quite...YET.</div>
Simply referring to goals. I believe in shooting for the stars if you want to hit the moon, and I realistically try to set my goals high and make them. If I can't get there naturally (as it seems to not be happening after all these years) I may get assistance. I'm first trying to tweak all I can out of myself, excepting for the recent PH failure.
I don't fault any of you who are satisfied with the 'Men's Fitness' look, but I have a case of bigamungus itch and need to satisfy. My goal, if you recall, is to walk around in a large, loose shirt, and never hear the question &quot;duhhh, do you work out?&quot; I also like moving larger elbees, even though I work out alone.
Steve looked good, no doubt, but I want Kevin Levrone arms and such.

Yeah, Steve looked great, but I'd ultimately like to by hyooger overall. Still, his measurements are impressive and I'd probably kill for them. At the very least, I'd slaughter an entire village.

He had some huge calves too. 18 inches, if I recall correctly. You know they didn't have seated calf machines and all that other junk back then.
He really was a freak. I guess it's possible he was in one of the early trials to see what testosterone injections do.

Steve Reeves was the only body builder whose name I recognized when I was a kid (except, of course, for Charles Atlas and Joe Weider -- neither of whom particularly inspired me). I always admired his physique.

He claimed he got his big calves by walking in such a way as to put extra stress on his calves each step. He said that people made fun of the way he walked, but he thought it was worth it for the results he got.

It must be true -- I read it in a muscle magazine 50 years ago...!

Here are his stats!

Steve Reeves had a classic physique body that is still admired
to this day. To many it is still the greatest physique of all time.
What's even more impressive is that Steve won the Mr. America,
Mr. World, and Mr. Universe titles with out ever using stroids.

His top form measurements were:

height 6'1&quot;
weight 215lb
shoulder breadth 23 1/2 in
neck 18 1/4 in
chest 52 in
waist 29 in
hips 38 in
biceps 18 1/4 in
forearms 14 3/4 in
wrist 7 1/4 in
thigh 26 in
calf 18 1/4 in
ankle 9 1/4 in.

Note that his calf, biceps and neck are the same measurement. He
did this deliberately based on the concept of Grecian ideal
proportions.

He also worked to get his shoulders as wide as possible and his
waist as small as possible in order to exaggerate his upper
body width. He didn't do shrugs or side bends as he thought large
traps took away from the visual illusion of shoulder width and
large obliques thickened the waist, spoiling his v-taper.

I'd slaughter entire New York City, Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, and other cities on demand if I could get close to that look.

Shrugs and Side Bends are a big part of my routine, and I was proud of my v-taper before I got fat! Hmm, maybe I should rethink my routine?!

Sorry to be picking on you Quad.  I just thought that part of successful goal-setting was setting them realistically.  I also have set unrealistic goals for myself many times in the past, and it didn't seem to help me.

But to each his own...I hope you can do it.  If you do really go for this...can you set me up with your gear dealer?

 (ya know I am just kidding around, big guy)

Actually, my goal is just to get around your size and strength Quad. 17&quot; arms, benching and rowing over 300....I'd be happy with that.

TBH, I actually have Pax Beale, Tom Venuto, and Hugo Rivera for more true ideals...all natty lifters, albeit younger. But mentally, what helps me is massive motivation and extreme goals: it's just the way MY mind works, although I understand it when guys use the shortterm realistic goals for themselves. As for fitness, anyone can do that with the motivation of a schoolgirl.

i think reeves has a great physique something for a natural to emulate.
i never thought his calves looked that big,18in at 6ft 1in mine are over 17in but im only 5ft 9in.

Does anyone knows how was calf training and walking that Reeves used to do ? I'm very into growing calves myself.

Tunnelrat?

My wife just came into the room to see if I was O.K. I was laughing so hard. I walked away, took out the garbage, came back and I'm still laughing.

I'd give my left arm to look like Reeves! I remember reading something back when Barry Bonds was in the news where a dr. had come up w/ some system to make an educated guess as to whether someone used steroids. it basically boiled down to &quot;if he's bigger than Steve Reeves, he can't be natural &amp; has to be on roids!&quot;

Sorry, I can't help you. I was recalling an interview with Steve Reeves that I read half a century ago...!

I'm gonna walk around with that guys face all day long and walk up to people and say &quot;Hi!&quot;.

This pic is about a year old but he is actually a lot smaller than this now.

I think he said recently he was weighing about 180 pounds &quot;due to being off steroids and into acting in hollywood&quot;

I think he is about 200 pounds in this pic.
