Attempt selection for Brits i'm thinking;

Squat
1) 205
2) 215
3) 225 (220 plan B)

Bench
1) 152.5
2) 162.5
3) 170 (165 plan B)

Deadlift
1) 255
2) 265
3) 272.5 (270 plan B)

Does your log include all of the deadlift work you’re doing? Other than warming up to the reps listed.

I dont include my work up sets on here.

For example last nights total for deadlifts was;

60 x5
100 x3
140 x2
180 x1
200 x1
225 x1
250 x1
260 x1
270 x1
230 x2
230 x2

So I’m guessing 8-10 working reps per session, x2 a week?

Interesting. Very low volume for a taper to then be effective.

Rowa often?
Away from comp yes, near comp not so much.

So "off Season" deadlifts usually go something like

Main Lift day
1-2 heavy singles
3-5 sets of 3-6 reps

Variation day (same as above)

So I could do as many as 32 working reps twice per week, so guess the volume isn't as low as I first thought.

As I run up to comp I usually incorporate more heavy singles and back off sets of 2-3 reps, again twice a week.

I tend to auto regulate the amount of sets quite a lot depending on how im feeling and how the lifts are moving.

Strongman background?
Yeah done a couple of comps. Thought about doing another one next year, but they're very hard! Power lifting is easier, its only 9 reps on the day.

That said I do still like to play around with logs, yokes etc... from time to time.

10% difference in my experience, 1-2 RPE at least for both rep ranges.
I had got accustomed to it so I would say it was only a 5% difference, but after a break from early morning training this felt horrible. Everything felt off and even the empty bar felt heavy! Luckily this is only a one off!

2” deficit deadlifts
220 x1 @6
235 x1 @8
220 x3 @8.5
205 x3x2 @7

2ct Bench
140 x1
150 x1 @7
160 x1 @9
145 x3 @8.5
135 x3x2 @7

Pulldowns
My Reps
91x12 +4 +4 +4 +3

After nationals, I've decided to get some coaching.... well kind of....

Going to see what the Garret Blevins SkyNet AI coaching is like. Its cheap and I wont be competing again until spring next year so out of curiosity and an experiment I thought I'd give it a go.

Interesting.

Price?

Interesting.

Volume based I presume?

I also agree with him re: more sets, less reps. It’s a sport of one rep tests. The more first reps you do, the better.

I think its volume based, I know Garrett himself has trained in a variety of styles of the last few years, from RPE high intensity to Sheiko so we'll have to wait and see. The more sets less reps though was what appealed to me most, like you said powerlifting its a sport of 1 reps so why do sets of 6, 7, 8 plus etc...
