Lol's New HST Log

Wed 16/04/08

Deads: 15, 12 x 150kg (330lb) - stopped second set short so I didn't die!
biggrin.gif

Used regular hook grip and took no rest between any reps. Thumbs were brutalised but they are toughening up nicely.

Upright Rows: 15 x 41kg (90lb), 15 x 53.5kg (118lb), 16 x 56kg (123lb) New 15RM - easy! Will try 61kg (134lb) next UR session which is my current 10RM.

Congrats on the new RM, Lol! It has to feel good to be that close to your 10RM during the 15's!

Great deadlift effort! Your grip is insanely impressive!

thats some serious reps for deads lol, id be turning blue past 12 reps with that weight.

cant comment on the rows as i dont do em, yet.

Cheers Tim and Lcars. I think I hit blue at about 10 reps and then green by 15!

I'm hoping I can pluck up the courage to try for 15 reps with 160kg (352lb) this cycle which would be a new 15RM for my deads (two reds and a blue each side). I know it'll be a close to death experience though so I'll be nervous the whole day beforehand if I do decide to give it a go.

Right now I am fatter than I have ever been in my life. I can only guess my bf %age: it must be getting on towards 20% by now.

I'll probably have to do a cut after this cycle. I really wanted to get a 500lb dead first though - or at least pretty close to that. A 300lb bench would be great too.

lol, you have a great attitude. the most common misnomer about bb'g is that you can bulk w/out putting on fat, and it simply is not true, at least of you're a natty.

The good thing is, your eventual cut will have excellent results b/c you've built a solid foundation of strength, which, if you continue to train heavy during your cut, will enable you to keep most of your hard-earned mass.

Fri 18/04/08

Back Squats: 10 x 60kg, 2 x 15 x 110kg (242lb)

Bench: 10 x 60kg, 18 x 80kg (176lb), 9, 10 x 90kg (198lb), 10 x 80kg (176lb)

Parallel Grip Chins: 15 x bw, 15(MS) x bw following on straight after first set.

One-arm DB Press: 20 x 16kg (35lb), 2 x 15 x 21kg (46lb)

DB Curls: 15, 10 x 21kg (46lb)

I think I pushed the first set of bench with 80kg a little too hard as I couldn't even get 10 reps the first time with 90kg and I'm trying to get 15 this cycle.

Haven't been able to log in here for days. Didn't seem to be anything up with my settings; I could reach nearly every other site I visit regularly. Now, all of a sudden this evening, I can load the forum again. Weird. Made me realise that I ought to back up my log just in case this site went AWOL.

I think that was something I couldn't admit... looking back at September, I was probably around 20% body fat.

Is this a new cycle Lol? Just wodering, how long did it take you to get used to the low bar position on squats...did you have any numbness in your hands (during sets) while you were getting more flexible. Thanks and good luck!

Week 3

Tues 22/04/08

Late training tonight again. Put on some Porcupine Tree for a bit of encouragement.

Front Squat: 16, 10 x 90kg (198lb) New 15RM + 1 for a bit more pain!

Previous 15RM: 85kg (187lb) 16/01/08 so whipped that one. I don't have small 1lb plates but I definitely could have done 15 reps with 200lb. Pump from hell! Thighs at 27.25" after that.

Dips: 13, 10, 10 x bw+40kg (88lb), 26 x bw - still didn't get 15 reps for my first set but managed two more sets of 10 and then repped out with bodyweight.

Shame about the dips but never mind. I need food - chicken fajitas here I come!

Solfsun: Yes, about a cycle, and yes!

Now I have them sussed I love the contrast between low bar back squats and front squats. Hope they work out for you. Keep at them.

Weds 23/04/08

Pretty sore from yesterday's session.

Power Cleans: plenty of warmups with 40kg, 5 x 60kg (132lb), 3 x 10 x 70kg (154lb), 2 x 5 x 70kg (154lb)

Pleased with that. Still have to work on my second pull/jump into squat move. I'm not getting into much of a squat at all so I'm having to pull the bar pretty high which is OK at this weight but will get much harder from here on.

Well the crap has hit the fan again! Found a new lump on my left leg at the weekend and have just seen my oncology doc and a plastic surgeon. I'm now scheduled in for another minor op within the next 30 days and then have to sit back and await the results again.

That's going to screw up this cycle. So much for my dream of an op free year. Ha! I may decide to put my 500lb deadlift goal on hold and start a cut following my op; I am fed up with being fat anyway.

Oh no, Lol, that is just terrible news. I really hope you will be OK.

I for one, would like to see you cut, at least a bit. It would be very interesting to see how much of your strength you can keep even after losing 10-15 kg or however much you want to lose.

I'm so sorry, Lol. Best of luck through the op and the waiting period. I certainly hope that this one's benign as well.

Your 500lb. deadlift will happen in due time. No worries. Take care of your health - that's most important.

Well, I knew the cut (diet) would have to happen sooner than later, but that doesn't mean the PR in deads cannot coexist. As always, have a safe recovery from the surgery!

Thur 24/04/08

Thanks for the encouraging words folks. Much appreciated.

Had a bit of a bug in my system over the last few days, thoughtfully passed on by my lad. I hate sore throats. Anyway...

Pendlay Row: warmups then 2 x 15 x 80kg (176lb), 3 x 5 x 80kg (176lb) - first set of 15 with pronated grip, second set supinated grip. Three more sets of 5 for a bit more work.

Standing Press: warmups then 3 x 15 x 50kg (110lb)

BB Curls: 20 x 41kg (90lb) - hopefully this will help my sore tendon insertions heal a bit!

Rows felt hard but, for presses, I'm pretty certain three sets of 15 reps with 50kg is my best to date.

Aw no, man, you're one of the guys I REALLY didn't want to have drop out of the game! I'll be praying for ya man, hoping for the best.

Oh, there's something on your face; let me rub this in it for ya...
PL totals = 1185...

Hmm, let's see: 10lb on my squat, 10lb on my bench and 20lb on my deads that'll take me to 1195. I need 15lb on my bench or 25 lb on my deads to get 1200.

You'd better keep pushing those numbers up big feller!
