Tot,

Any luck on the little debbies!

Actually yeah. I've been supplementing my diet with little cheap treats like those and these other generic things I found at Save-A-Lot for cheap as hell. There are a bit more saturated fats than I'd like, but I'm consuming a lot of mono and polyunsaturated fats, so I think my ratio of saturated vs unsaturated is probably still rather good.

I'm getting a little tired of protein shakes though.

Just curious... what do you consider a good ratio of unsaturated to saturated fat?

1:1, 2:1, 4:1, 6:1, 12:1 or even more?

I could be completely wrong...so don't take this as fact.

But I think I read somewhere that Junior cheesburger from Wendy's is the perfect breakdown of protein carbs and fat in one burger?

I know this is fast food and again I haven't checked to see if this is true....but the burgers are damn good and real cheap!!

Thanks Joe. I think it's getting better now actually. My lats were lagging behind, so I had a thick back but not a lot of width - looked quite silly, actually. My lats are responding real well to my current training so maybe I'll get those wings soon. Haha. The only problem with this is that my erectors are growing a lot too and getting weird lumps/inconsistent growth. I guess that might be common?

Anyway, took some measurements today. I'm hovering around 218 lbs, getting close to 220 so hopefully I'll have that within a week or two. Waist size has only gone up a half an inch overall since I started this bulk. It's at 34.5 inches and holding, so... kind of happy about that.
I have a picture, it's kinda crappy - you try taking a picture of one arm flexing while holding the cell phone in the other. Anyway, all I have to say is that it's about f-ing time. I'm sick of being the only guy who deadlifts over twice his bodyweight but still has small arms.

I'm getting tired of eating. I'm pounding down close to 5000 calories a day still and I'll have to increase that soon I'm sure. I'll give this bulk until the end of May and then I'm calling it quits, going back to maintenance. I really don't want to start hating all my favorite foods but I already can't stand the thought of eating a few of my favorites anymore.

Sorry about the pic size. I'm too lazy to resize it right now. And yeah, it's another close encounter of the blurry kind but whatever, you can read the numbers well enough.

I'm pretty sure those inches on your tape are a lot bigger than the ones on mine in which case you probably have the largest arm dimensions of anyone here! (Of course, that'll mess with your waist measurement too.

I hear you about the eating; my last week has sucked. I just can't be bothered with all the food prep work and what with travelling and visiting my training has been sporadic too. Today I just feel fat.

Me, too, except I've pretty much got small everything -- arms, legs, back, and chest...

Tot, are you doing any tricep isolations? Your bicpes are fine, but I know your triceps have always been a weak point and imo, some skullcrushers or dumbell extensions are just what you need to drive up the arm size.

Yup. I've been doing skullcrushers, DB extensions and close grip bench, alternated, as part of my current routine. I really don't like CGBP though and might swap it out for pushdowns soon. My triceps are noticeably thicker, which I am fairly certain is why my arms are finally growing again. Not to suggest that my biceps aren't growing too, however. I have been hitting biceps and forearms on the lower body day and not only do they both look bigger, but my forearms have gained quite a bit too.

Let's see... on my screen, those inches look to be equivalent to two real inches, so that means I have 32 inch arms. Valentino can suck it. Of course the 68 inch waist kind of kills it...

You know (and maybe this is a little too much information) I think the thing that sucks the most about eating this much, aside from feeling bloated a lot and having to forcefeed occasionally, is the fact that I have to go to the bathroom a lot. I mean a whole lot. I may as well set up my computer and everything in there. Every time I eat another meal, it's like my body wants to push the last one out afterwards to make room. Haha.

Well, I am getting to the point where I don't... I'm saying this while I prepare to devour a medium pan pizza from Pizza Hut. I usually go Hawaiian but I felt like getting only extra cheese and extra sauce today. I'm chasing it with some mountain dew. Yeah, sounds horrible, but if I ate clean, I'd have to quit my job in order to have enough time to eat all that stuff.

Oh I totally forgot about your earlier question. I don't know too much about it, but I try to keep my unsaturated vs saturated ratio around at least 2:1 but maybe closer to 4:1? Not totally sure. Is that good? Maybe. I get a lot of fats in my diet as it is, but try to keep the saturated fats at around 25% of my fats, which I guess is around 4:1.

Congrats on the 16" arms though, I know you have been wanting it for a long time. I am hesitant to keep bulking as when I sit down my belly fat kind of hangs over my belt now...

I've realized there is no way I am going to reach 220 this year, unless I find me some drugs or get really fat.
Our upper bodies are similar but your legs must be frickin' massive since you have 20 lb.s on me.
You need to get your wife to take some quadricep pics of you after a good squat workout.
BTW, usually squats and deadlifts really benefit from bulking, how are those lifts lately?

Well, I can't do back squats yet, but it's warming up so I should be able to move back out to the garage where my rack is soon. So... suffice to say, I'm confident I'll be getting much closer to that 500 lb deadlift soon. I don't want to say too much about it until I have some video or pictures as proof though.

4:1 is really good... 2:1 is normal for me, but I have read recommendations to have ratios of up to 12:1 which I find impossible with consumption of whey, cheese, chicken and beef.

We're gonna be able to feel the earth move...!

I moved my stuff back out to the garage today. I tried benching in the rack. As many of you know, I've always struggled with flat bench... and I haven't even been doing it for a while now, all winter at least. Since I moved all my equipment inside, I've been limited to DB flies and weighted dips. So I am fairly certain my body has pretty much forgotten how to do it over the months. Maybe a good thing, since I always sucked at it, so I must have been doing something wrong.

Anyway, I think I finally figured out bench pressing. After I moved everything out there (which was no easy task to do alone) I then decided to fool around and do some benching. I managed to do a couple sets of 5 with 205 lbs, and it was kind of hard, but not too bad. I decided not to push much beyond that. I'm really feeling it in my pecs and triceps, which I never really felt before after flat bench. So... I think I finally got it. I'm not really sure what I was doing wrong before. But whatever, it is working now, so hopefully my bench numbers will finally start to make sense compared to the other numbers I'm throwing around.

Yay.

Tomorrow, I'll do some back squatting. I probably won't do the 20 rep widowmaker set that is part of DC, as I really don't need growth in my legs that much as it is and I don't fancy the idea of doing that. Maybe I'm being a wuss, but I don't care, quads aren't something I need to work on, so that's my excuse.

220.

For the last couple days now, so I think it's real and not just water weight from a sodium binge or something.

A little fat too, but that's fine. Like I said, I'll ride this thing until the end of May, then in June I'm quitting. I'll probably spend a week at maintenance before jumping into a quick cut. Hopefully I can get my loads to peak at the beginning of June. I plan to start pushing hard for PRs throughout April, so if I do, then I can backtrack and spend May building back up... or something, not totally sure yet.

Anyway, I'm happy with things so far.

Edit: not even sure what that last line was supposed to say...
