Baxmans Trip

Thanks Colby. My routines used to be filled with exercises, but interestingly enough, Fausto's Simplify and Win was one of the first things I read in this forum. I really haven't changed anything for over a year now.

FRIDAY 7-25,2008

Missed my workout Thurs. The wife got a little busy down in the tavern, so I had to sling drinks and flip burgers for a couple hours. I was just about to load the bar on my back when she came up.

Squats 8x5x175

OHP 5x6x100

Bench 3x6x157

Deads 8x5x280

Pullups BW 10,4,7

Half way through Phase 1 Korte. I'll find out the next 2 weeks if my balls are big enough to finish this out.

Korte's 3x3 is a man killer for sure. That light at the end of the tunnel is a train coming the other way.

You'll be surprised how easy the "heavy" portion of the 3x3 is (assuming, of course, you survive the first part...).

Bax,

Good luck with the program. Does the 3x3 part of the program have you ramping up anywhere near your 1RM at the end? I hope your balls are big enough to finish.

Yes it does ramp up to your one rep max. Thanks

Resting 1 1/2 minutes between sets. 2 by the time deads came around. Used three different grips for deadlifts and bench.

Sleep has been a little restless the last few nights, a sign of a bit of CNS fatigue I think. I lke squatting and deadlifting, but this seems like overkill, especially on the same day and three a week. Even though this program calls for weenie weights for four weeks, it is by no means a walk in the park. Hope it pays off.

Shoulder is feeling better this last week. Been taking fish oil and glucosamine for three weeks so maybe it's finally kicking in.

Missed my last two sets of deads. Bar got busy again and had to help out. Bummer. Love having my gym at home, but the business is a little close for comfort.
Took a nice three day break. Had a buddy come up from Milwaukee and toke a cruise up to the U.P. and drove along the south shore of Lake Superior on Tues. Just absolutely beautiful country up there. Also couldn't pass up a day of walleye and jumbo perch fishing yesterday.
Weighed in at 180 this morning. Haven't seen that weight since March of 2007.

Last day of Phase 1 Korte. Thank the lord for that. My body is tired especially my lower back and legs.

You are a winner! Ding Ding Ding...!!

Phase II is a piece of cake compared to Phase I. You'll be wondering what to do with all the extra time (and you'll likely be amazed at the PRs you can put up).

Well, this did nothing for me. In and out in about 15 minutes. I don't think I can hang with that for 4 weeks. I'll have to try something different to peak for strength here.

*sits on the edge of his seat*

Deloading and Intensification Phase of the advanced madcow 5x5?

Sheiko has a 4 week peaking program that seems to start heavy and ramp up, if you want a spreadsheet for it I can link you.

You read my mind with the advanced Madcow!! I wouldn't mind seeing that Sheiko link though. I'm always up for trying something new, but I've got results with the Madcow and that's the way I'm leaning. Thanks FF!!

Warned you...!!

I suspect the point is to allow your muscles to recoup from the over stress of the previous weeks. Give it a week or two; see if your strength doesn't go through the roof.

I'm really loving the simplified routine. I've become frustrated with all the crap in my routine!

I'm considering big time reduction in # of exercises, and your log is having more than a bit of influence on that man! Keep pumping!

here's that sheiko spreadsheet (which I did not make but do like): http://rapidshare.com/files/128300369/Sheiko_Spreadsheet_2008.07.09.xls.html

Thanks for that ff. I think I might give that a try after the new year, but for now it's back to 5x5.

After 6 days off, shoulder is feeling pretty good after being a pain in the *** for 4 months. 19 weeks till the new year and I'm going to make a serious push to get my bodyweight up to 190-195#. I'm at 178 right now. So, the next few months will be 5x5 followed by a 1 week SD and 1 HST/5x5 cycle.

8-21-08 wk1 5x5

Squats 5x5x175

Bench 1x5x130,140,150,160,170

AHHH, that felt good.
